UGC stands for user-generated content, but in brand-deal terms it means one specific thing: you make the video, the brand publishes it on their own channels. You're being paid as a content producer, not for access to your audience — which changes what drives the price.

Because distribution isn't part of the deal, follower count matters less for UGC than for sponsored posts. What moves you toward the top of your range: production quality, a portfolio of past UGC in the brand's niche, fast turnaround, and on-camera skill. That said, brands still pay proven creators more — a creator with a real audience de-risks the creative, and the tiers above reflect that.

The #1 UGC pricing mistake: giving away usage rights

A UGC rate covers the brand using your video organically, for a defined window — typically 3 to 6 months on their owned channels. It does not cover paid advertising. If the brand wants to run your face as a Meta ad, a Spark Ad, or any paid placement, that's whitelisting — a separate line item, priced per 30 days (see the table above), renewed for as long as the ad runs.

"In perpetuity, all channels, paid and organic" buried in a brief is the most expensive sentence in UGC. If a brand needs perpetual paid rights, the price is a multiple of your base rate — never included for free. When an offer lands, run it through the calculator above and counter with a defined usage window.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly counts as UGC?
Content you create that the brand publishes on its own channels — their TikTok, their Instagram, their website, their ads. You don't post it to your audience. If you're posting it, that's a sponsored post and it's priced differently (higher, because distribution is included).
Do follower counts matter for UGC rates?
Less than for sponsored posts, but they're not irrelevant. Brands pay more for creators with proven audiences because it signals the content will perform. Nano creators regularly earn $200–$500 per UGC video with zero distribution attached — it's the best-paying deliverable relative to audience size.
Should UGC cost less than a sponsored post?
At micro tier and above, usually yes — a sponsored post includes your distribution, UGC doesn't. But UGC should never be cheap by default: you're covering scripting, filming, editing, and revisions. Check both numbers in the calculator before quoting.
How many revisions should my rate include?
One to two rounds, stated in writing before you film. Unlimited revisions is unpaid labor — additional rounds beyond what's agreed should be billed per round.
How do I price usage rights on UGC?
Organic use for a defined term (3–6 months) is part of the base rate. Paid usage — running your video as an ad — is whitelisting, billed separately per 30 days at the ranges in the table above. Perpetual or paid-in-perpetuity rights should cost a multiple of base, if you grant them at all.
